English Access Microscholarship Program (2012-14)

The English Access Microscholarship Program 2012-14 (Access) provides opportunities to  14 to 17 years old students from underserved communities develop their English language proficiency and enhance their ability to successfully pursue better career options.  In addition to developing and enhancing their English  language skills, the participants also acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes conducive to operating successfully as both a national and a global citizen believing in core values such as democracy, human rights, liberty, pluralism, and community service. For this, the program also incorporates various enhancement activities such as community service projects, class representatives’ elections, newsletter development, readers’ clubs, integration of ICT and many more. These activities aim at developing students’ confidence and communicative skills through participation in meaningful learning experiences.

The Access Program (2012-14) program is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, Islamabad and is implemented by Society for International Education (SIE) reaching 1900 students in Karachi, Hyderabad and Rawalpindi: 1700 students in 16 Access centers in Karachi, 100 students in 2 Access Centers in Hyderabad, 100 students in 2 Access Centers in Rawalpindi.  SIE is running the Access Program for the second time. The first one was implemented from October 2010 to September 2012 for 1500 students in Karachi, whereas the current program runs from  September 2012 to August 2014.

The Access program offers 406 hours – distributed into 5 modules - of English language teaching-learning aiming to help students progress from basic to intermediate level of English language proficiency.



Access classes 14 August for Ramadan and Eid holidays. Classes will resume after a nearly six-week break on 15 August.
