Extracts from the Reflections

The very first day of the FTE workshop has wonderfully channalized my thoughts towards the new and dynamic aspects of using the Internet to part knowledge in factual and more real sense. It has helped me to think creating an alive classroom environment and motivating my students to participate as active learners. It has provoked my thoughts to discover new horizons of information to make my teaching and planning strategies more profound and meaningful.
I believe, FTE has provided me an ample opportunity to interact and exchange views on different mutual or diverse educational and socioeconomic issues with other teachers all over the world. I hope, it will help in developing the intercultural understanding amongst the teachers, as well as the students belonging to different nations. My students will get a wonderful experience to embrace, understand and honor the commonalities or diversities of histories, cultures, values, opinions of other nations. They will learn to respect humans and humanity.
Its great to feel that after a couple of days I will not be just an ordinary English teacher of a Pakistani school, but also be a valuable member of a vast international teachers community.

It was really exciting to become a member of global family. Through out this workshop we worked as a dynamic group. Indeed it was a fun to get this form of knowledge and learning procedure globally. All the facilitators were very cooperative I indeed all of us this enjoyed a lot.

It was my first introduction to iEARN andI was really amazed to see the difference iEARN is making in the life of many students. I knew nothing about this network but after attending the workshop I have gained much. It provides great opportunity to interact. It’s a platform to share our ideas culture knowledge and teaching methodologies.
After attending this workshop I am a changed person and now I think I can make a difference in the lives of my students.
I really feel proud to be the part of the global society because this workshop has enhanced my interest in teaching.

I am Zeba Abid from Shahwilayat Public School and have been teaching Maths and English for the last 25 years. I came to the workshop without much knowledge of the iEARN and its working. Infact I was pretty apprehensive about it. But as the class progressed my doubts and apprehensions slowly started fading as the instructors talked and explained, the working of iEARN became clearer. Infact the whole time I had my English class students in mind and new ideas cropped up. As I am an English language teacher and always in the quest to bring up new topics for creative writing, iEARNS projects have formed an excellent platform to write reflective, descriptive and argumentative compositions. It has opened new horizons to explore. My students will surely be as excited as I am to venture into this world of relationship. It will help to broaden students ‘ outlook in life. And perhaps , who knows their views might just click in some insane leaders head and change it for the better.

It is heartening to know while browsing that no matter where we are or which part of the globe we belong to we all want to strive for a better future for ourselves as well as the generations to come.
Again thank you  Farah, Sheheena, Sara and Sobia for shrinking the world for us.

It was a wonderful experience for me to learn about iEARN in this workshop. With the help of this platform I join a community of teachers and students who worked on Internet based collaborative projects. In FTE (Friendship Through Education) program there is an interaction of youth from all over the world to build a culture of peace and where the rights of all human beings are respected. I intend to use the skills gained in this workshop to teach our children how to create and exchange artwork, writings, poems and other global issues related to environment and publish on the net. I hope to teach my students to use the Internet for meaningful purpose not only for chatting. In an article New trends in Global Issues and English teaching it was discussed that now English language is used a source to discuss global issues.
I am so happy that now I am one of the member of iEARN global family. In the end I want to thank to my facilitator Farah Kamal and all Co-facilitators. Thanks.
