For the academic year 2004-2005, iEARN Pakistan selected 40 high schools students to participate in the year long live and study in USA program. The group contained 25 girls and 15 boys from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Pindi , Gilgit and Hunza. These students are placed in carefully chosen American host families by experienced youth exchange organizations, AYUSA International, ASPECT and ASSE. These organizations are engaged in constantly monitoring and advising the students throughout their stay in the US. Major expenses such as airfare, room and board, pocket money and most other costs are covered by the YES scholarship. This made dreams come true for many Pakistani students, who otherwise would not have had the opportunity to participate in such programs. All students finally selected for program participation are introduced to their host families in USA 4-6 weeks before their departures. The families across the two countries started communicating with each other regularly . Families from USA are equally excited at the prospects of hosting Pakistani teenagers. They eagerly prepare their and wait with open arms and hearts to host these students. The selected students were all enrolled in a free 'Pre Departure Orientation and Language Proficiency Module ' which is designed and delivered by iEARN-Pakistan and Rotary of Club Islamabad West for Pindi , Islamabad and Lahore students. The YES alumni played a key role in guiding and sharing their first hand experiences throughout the Pre Departure Orientation sessions.
