Professional Development

 

iEARN-Pakistan continually facilitates teachers training and development programs round the year. The teachers' training and support takes place in different forms:

1- Workshops and Courses:

These are mostly day long or week long workshops and courses focusing cross curricular topics and respond to the express needs of schools for integrating ICT in classroom teaching. These courses are open to educators from iEARN partner schools.

Over the years more then 2000 teachers have participated in these programs and have developed into professionals who are capable of integrating online project based  online telecommunications activities in their own curriculum and are able to support and assist schools, teachers and students  in their community for participating in online curriculum based projects.

Often times some of these workshops or the registrations are sponsored;  Government schools, NGO, Community schools and schools functioning in underprivileged areas qualify for all such sponsored training programs.

Four  Active iEARN students and two  teachers will participate in a 3 weeks study program in USA as part of the iEARN-CATALYST Exchange in March 2008.

  2-International Conferences and Trainings:

 

Join the 15th iEARN Annual Conference and Youth Summit in Bukhara-Uzbekistan.

iEARN-Pakistan is offering a limited number of  scholarships for very active and outgoing teachers and educators to participate in the Annual Conference.

3. Dissemination and Outreach: 

iEARN-Pakistan also encourages community based voluntary support and dissemination activities by the trained iEARN Teachers and professionals, who have participated in the iEARN National workshops in Pakistan or attended one of the overseas exchange and training programmes. All such professionals are expected  to work with schools in their community and catchments areas and provide voluntary support and workshops to the teachers of these schools. In all such cases iEARN-Pakistan provide full and free of cost, support  to the iEARN teachers. This may include provision of iEARN project booklets, CD ROMs, Videos, assistance in designing the workshop sessions including materials, handouts and slides (provided the supplies are available in stock).

  4- Focused Workshops for Individual Schools:

 iEARN-Pakistan facilitates workshops and training programs for schools interested in organizing iEARN trainings exclusively for their faculty . These workshops can be from day long ‘Beginners’ Workshops’ to three days focused training courses. For these focused and tailored workshops and courses the schools bear the entire cost of training and the trainer.

  5- Online Professional Development Courses:

iEARN-US offers nine  weeks iEARN Master Teachers in Online Collaborative Learning  courses in eight different subject areas. the courses are  designed to help  K-12 educators learn how to integrate an international online collaborative project into their classrooms. iEARN-US provides scholarships to a limited number of international participants. More then 100  teachers from Pakistan have successfully completed the online courses in the past 5 years.
