GCE- Global Connections and Exchange
Training of the Trainers 2006-2007
Karachi
December 10th-14th 2006
iEARN –Pakistan is organizing a 5 days training of the trainers workshop for fifteen active iEARN educators from all over Pakistan. This national event is organized to provide professional support and training to develop a core group of iEARN professionals capable of implementing, managing and sustaining the iEARN programs. The various sessions of the seminar would enable these trainers to continue to contribute to the iEARN forums, facilitate local web sites, give iEARN’s new online and offline trainings and courses and participate in all their school based iEARN activities and support iEARN Pakistan’s ongoing program activities and initiatives and other aspects of the program.
The workshop facilitators include experienced international professionals; Dalia Khalil from Egypt, Diane Midness from USA and Anatoly Kochinov from Uzbekistan and the iEARN Pakistan team.
GOALS
As the BRIDGE program enters its fourth year and the number of schools grows, the need for educators capable of training their peers also grows. The 15 Trainers that “graduate” from this seminar will be essential to meeting the long-term goals of BRIDGE. From its inception, iEARN designed BRIDGE to support schools after funding ends by helping participants to conduct “follow-up” activities that strengthen the ongoing relationships among the schools and other local organizations. We anticipate the training seminar will support participants by addressing:
· understanding the purpose, goals, national and international organizational structure of iEARN
· overview of the next 15 months of iEARN Online projects implementation in their school systems
· implementing and sustaining iEARN programs in their school networks, community and city
· tools and skills to recruit and train new educators and schools on integrating the iEARN collaborative projects effectively in their classrooms,
· designing and launching at least 2-3 new iEARN online collaborative projects
· tools and skills to conduct local iEARN workshops,
· ideas to more fully engage the community (school administrators, parents, government officials) in collaborative projects,
· how to identify and leverage resources that may be available in their community and engage in partnerships with other organizations to support student projects after funding ends,
· establishing and managing iEARN Clubs and alumni networks
Target Participants: We are looking for workshop participants who:
- Have iEARN project participation experience
- Posses excellent computer and internet skills
