How to Participate in Virtues Project??
Step One: 1- Read through the project description in detail, click: http://www.iearn.org/projects/virtues.html. Visit the online iEARN Virtues forum and read through on-line messages in this project forum to gain some ideas about the ongoing discussions and contributions. Also the detailed project template is available at the top of the forum discussions Step Two: Identify the curriculum areas and goals/objectives that can be achieved with the the project. Create a list of your objectives to choosing and joining this project. Create a tentative time-frame and lesson progression. The project "action-plan" is handy in your meetings with your school coordinator to share all the activities related to the project and the time spent to achieve them. Use the resources in the Virtues website and sample lesson plans to finally draft a workable plan for your own class. Step Three: Send an introductory note in the Virtues project forum, that should include: Teacher name: School name: School postal address: email: Step Four: Introduce the project to your students and start implementing your integration plan Have students first read and respond to other students’ writing already posted in the Virtues project forum. Students can post encouraging comments or ask questions of the writers also they can discuss with the writers their techniques and their ideas. Step Five: Have students students draft their own writings in the form of stories, poems, essays, narratives or art work . The final drafts should be posted online in the iEARN Virtues Forum, we strongly suggest to open a folder with the title of the name of your school and then post all the work from one school in one folder. Another idea for students participation is to choose to write on a topic that is already under the discussion in the forum and then have students respond by expressing their own thoughts and work on the same topic. It is very important that all writing posted to Virtues is the original work of the contributing student. The only exception to this are: a) Where is it a translation of a famous work; in this case it must be a translation done by the student and the details of the original author must be given b) Where a student gives a brief quotation of another work; in this case details of the author whose work is being quoted must be given. Step Six: Continue participation of the project as planned with your students and the project coordinator.
