http://www.iearn.org/civics CIVICS Goals
Increase English language skills for students and
educators from the Near East, North Africa and South Asia
Dynamic and meaningful civic education dialogue among
students and educators from these regions and US students and educators
Develop a cadre of
educator/trainers in Algeria, Egypt, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Sri Lanka,
Tunisia and the United States who have curriculum development, technical skills and
knowledge to train other teachers and students in their countries and worldwide.
Pakistani Schools participating in CIVICS are also
participating in many iEARN projects such as the Laws of Life
Essay Project, A Vision literary magazine, Lewin
an anthology of students writing, and projects that address social issues like child labour, refugees, street children, national and local customs and
traditions, drug and alcohol abuse and the environment. All projects have a finished
product such as a publication, a CD-ROM, or a web site, that can be shared by schools in
the participating countries, as well as school administrators and other community leaders.
The first CIVICS
Publication is edited and published by a team of Pakistani educators and students and
distributed globally in July 2002.
