Professional Development

iEARN-Pakistan continually facilitates teachers training and development programs round the year. The teachers' training and support takes place in different forms:

  1- Sponsored Trainings:

These are mostly 2 or 3 days iEARN teachers/ training programs organized by iEARN-Pakistan in collaboration with iEARN-USA focusing  the different iEARN Programs.  Generally the participants in these trainings programmes are the teachers from the iEARN Project schools for CIVICS, BRIDGE ,  FTE etc.. The Headmasters/Principals/Directors/District Education Officers of the schools apply for becoming a project/member school.

Government schools, NGO, Community schools and schools functioning in underprivileged areas  qualify for all such sponsored training programs.

The prime purpose of these training programs are to develop professionals who are capable of integrating online project based  online telecommunications activities in their own curriculum and are able to support and assist schools , teachers and students  in their community for participating in iEARN projects.

  2-International Conferences and Trainings:

iEARN-USA Master Trainers Program: As part of the various  iEARN Programs, training and exchange opportunities are available to a limited number of selected teachers from the project schools. These teachers are sponsored to participate in exchange programs and trainings conducted in USA.

Regional conferences: These are  organized by Regional iEARN Centres e.g -Egypt 2001 and 2003, iEARN-Jordan-2004. iEARN-International Conferences are usually held in the month of July every year in a different country (Moscow in 2002, Japan in 2003, Slovakia in 2004) .

3. Dissemination and Outreach:

iEARN-Pakistan also encourages community based voluntary support and dissemination activities by the trained iEARN Teachers and professionals, who have participated in the iEARN National workshops in Pakistan or attended one of the overseas exchange and training programmes. All such professionals are expected  to work with schools in their community and catchments areas and provide voluntary support and workshops to the teachers of these schools. In all such cases iEARN-Pakistan provide full and free of cost, support  to the iEARN teachers. This may include provision of iEARN project booklets, CD ROMs, Videos, assistance in designing the workshop sessions including materials, handouts and slides.

These workshops can be from day long ‘Beginners’ Workshops’ to three days focused training courses. For these focused and tailored workshops and courses the schools bear the entire cost of training and trainer.
